Jefferson County Drainage District No 6

Operations

The District is responsible for the management and maintenance of over 1,070 linear miles of earthen and concrete-lined drainage channels, 37 stormwater detention basins, and numerous flood control structures throughout Jefferson County, Texas. We perform approximately 90% of all infrastructural maintenance and new construction projects in-house with a workforce of nearly 100 field personnel and a fleet of over 300 pieces of various construction and maintenance equipment.

Our workforce is comprised of hard-working men and women who take pride in their work and strive for excellence daily. We employ craftsmen, tradesmen, technicians, specialized mechanics, certified equipment operators, CDL drivers, licensed professionals, and a wide variety of supporting staff members.

The District’s workforce and equipment assets are strategically coordinated to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and operational safety while ensuring strict compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. In addition to maintaining our existing drainage infrastructure, we are continually evaluating new and innovative ways to better serve the stormwater conveyance needs of our community and promote a healthy, sustainable environment.
